RAW 2027 proposals now open!

RAW is an opportunity for young artists in the Murray region to showcase their work.

The annual exhibition program highlights the creative strengths of local young people, including HSC / VCE students, recent school leavers in the region, and those who quietly work away on their budding masterpieces purely of their own initiative.  

The program supports artistic growth and professional development for young emerging artists for whom many this will be their first experience in exhibiting their work.

Successful applicants will be offered an artist fee, invited to participate in a series of curator-led workshops, and have their work presented in a professional museum setting.

Application Guidelines

RAW is open to young people aged between 16 and 21 from Albury, Wodonga and surrounding areas – from Wagga Wagga to Falls Creek and Benalla to Tumbarumba. 

Applications will close on Friday 25 September 2026, at 5pm.

The application comprises a short questionnaire, a description of your work, and visual examples of your work, such as photographs or a video link. 

Applications can include an existing work (made in the last 12 months), a new concept or a work-in-progress. 

Applications for RAW 2027 will be assessed by MAMA curatorial staff and two local youth representatives.  

The RAW 2027 program will include three professional development workshops. The workshops will cover artwork preparation, exhibition installation and organising the opening event. All artists are expected to attend all 3 workshops:

  • Workshop #1 – Saturday 6 February 2027, 11am – 1pm
  • Workshop #2 – Saturday 13 February 2027, 11am – 1pm
  • Workshop #3 – Saturday 20 February 2027, 11am – 1pm

RAW artists should expect to: 

  • receive a $300 artist fee 
  • attend the exhibition opening to be held on Friday, 19 March 2027, 5.30pm – 7pm 
  • participate in a one-on-one interview with the marketing team  
  • participate in a professional photoshoot with their artwork (individual headshot provided).

RAW 2027 will be on display from 19 March, for 7-10 weeks (final schedule TBC).

Successful RAW 2027 applicants will be notified in late 2026.
